SketchPath-Pro is a graphical tool for developing and testing XPath against one file, or an entire directory structure of files. XPath 1.0 and 2.0 specifications, plus the EXPath Zip specification are fully supported by this tool, which integrates Saxon.Net-PE 9.2 for XPath 2.0 evaluation.

XPath expressions are used in a wide array of software applications that use XML technologies. SketchPath-Pro provides the ability to efficiently develop and test XPath expressions, ensuring they are easier to maintain when your XML schemas are modified in future.

Developing Efficiently

This tool provides features to allow you to quickly and reliably write your XPath expressions. These include Auto-Generation, context-aware Intellisense, smart Auto-Completion and step-level tracing/debugging.

XPath expressions can be auto-generated in a number of ways, the most direct method is by just clicking on the part of the XML text you need to select, qualifying predicates are added automatically. You can can also generate XPaths by selecting from an element-tree view, an XPath sibling-nodes view, or by navigating the results of another XPath or regular expression.

Providing Assistance

This tool features permanent predicate-aware Intellisense which is always accessible as you type, or even as you select different parts of the expression. The auto-completion list is grouped and cascaded according to context to ensure you are not overloaded with options. Uniquely, the Intellisense pane has a toolbar so expressions can be built using the mouse or keyboard.

Simplifying Expressions

XPath variables (for XPath 1.0 or 2.0) in SketchPath provide an effective method for breaking down complex XPath expressions into their simpler component parts. Saved variables can be named and grouped for scope and are stored in an XML file for reuse, XML namespace declarations can also be saved with the variables.
